Wait for the Leagues of Votann Combat Patrol Box

So the new leagues of votann army box has been shown and it is really unappealing for a new army's box set. A box that should show off the different unit types of the faction. So a quick break down with estimated prices.

three hernkyn pioneers around £35

Twenty hearthkyn warriors £65

kahl or uthar the destined £25

Einhyr champion £25

these are estimates based on what most new models cost. That is a £140 add in the limited edition codex at £50 and the datacards at a £10 and you are saving £75 at best going what the previous army boxes were sold for.

Here is the issues, there is no diversity in the box, it is covering A hq, troop, fast attack, and an elite. One man units who are not hq bother me any way. Kitbashing a champion is fun. Lacking a heavy support and a proper elite unit would have made this box so much better.

The sisters of battle box did this, you had your canoness tats the hq, sisters of battle squad your troop choice, seraphim your fast attact, penitent engine your heavy support, and finally sisters repentia with repentia supererior and arco-flagelants as your elites. All the bases were covered showing what a new army or one brought back could do and look like. Yes they were all monopose bt you got a taste of everything. The leagues of votan box doesnt give you that. There is no elite unit it's one dude, no heavy support too. No really big guns so you could know what these guys could really do.

There is no real centrepiece model, there is the named character he's blended in with the other single model unit. Ther is no big model. The black templars had the redemtor dreadnought, sisters of battle the penitent engine, and theorks had the nob on a smasha squig. Models that towered over the rest of the box. There is nothing like that in this box.

The final issue though I admit very minor, is one kit to make two named characters. This just cheapens the uniqueness of a named character. They are going to look alike because they are the same kit. Calll me old fashioned but named characters should never come from the same kit as another it takes away so much and replaces nothing.

Ant way rant over, I think much like the black templar army box, wait until the combat patrol box drops. Worse case scenario it's the same kit. More likely will have a lot more range to it and a lot more unit types. You have waited this long for squats wait a little longer for a better box because you deserve the best.
