NEW ASTRA MILITARUM ARMY SET AND ALTERNATIVES IF YOU CAN'T GET IT!!!

So the new Astra militarum army set has been announced, can I start by saying this is how you do starter set. You get a commander, command squad, sentinel, 20 cadian shock troops, and the field ordance battery. So all unit types a covered, hq, trooops elits, fast attack and heavy supprot.

This gets new and old players to try a little of everything, exactly like a new army box should. The lack of the named character also is good. So for those who are finacially minded. Multiple purchases actually makes different forces.

The shock troops can be made into normal guardsman, shock troops, veterans, and conscripts. The sentinel can be armoured or scout.

Straight away there is a lot of diversity in the box.

As for the price breakdown, well we can use the current model prices as luckily the change is never so severe and it is a good baseline. I will have to estimate the field ordanance battery too.

So command squad is £24

shock troops are £30 for a box of 10 so £60 the 20

sentinel is £24

the ordanance battery would be around £30

limited edition codex £50

datacards £17.

A total saving of £85 going on the previous leagues of votann army set price £120.

So you are getting enough money off to have a free unit when you remove the codex and data cards.

So yeah, fantastic box, versatile and a good all rounder too. Say you don't get it. These army boxes sell quickly. There is plenty of options for you. There is of course the cadian defence force.

which you get twenty shock troops, command squad, leman russ, chimera, and a heavy squad for £115 and ths a saving of £53.50. But you will be baying an extra £27.50 to have the normal codex with it too. If tanks are your thing that might be the route you want to take.

If you want to change the cadians to catachans, with the sentinel instead of the tanks. The total will be around £119, that is assuming the field ordance battery is £30, so £152.50 with the normal codex.

If you wish to copy the cadian defence force, but with catachans. It will cost you £157.50 before the codex. £190 with the codex.

So if you are going to wait for the army box you are going to get a good deal. If you aren't and wish to get a jump on the astra militarum. There are good amount of alternatives. Which will give you similar starting forces for around the same price. Or you may just miss it, at least you are still not going to be dramatically out of pocket as well.
