Getting Started in Warhammer The Old World Part 1 Chaos Daemons

with warhammer the old world hopefully being released next year. I want to to do a series on armies that would be able to be played in both. Warhammer age of sigmar, and the old world. Focusing on models that are from the time period of the new system coming out. So a character like king leon loancer of brettonia would be a hard pass, as he is not alive in the period of time the old world is set in. Where as Valkia the bloody would be carving up mortals in the name of khorne, during this time period.
My best guess it is going to be around 1979 when margritta was crowned empress, but not recognised by the grand theogenist and there was more than one emperor. So having a time estimate, I can make an army with the correct weapons and tools too.
So to begin this series, I am going to show the best value army, games workshop has ever done. Better value than even space marines. Chaos daemons, the only factions that has models that can be used in all systems with the same scale. Warhammer 40000, age of sigma, horus heresy, and the old world. Chaos daemons are so versatile, you can even include some in your chaos space marine, death guard, and thousand sons army. Probably world eaters too, going by the old khorne daemonkin codex.
This is going to be an undivided force, I know usually, focusing on a single god when doing daemons; gives you loads of buffs. I would like to show off a more versatile force. So when Old world drops, you will have an army that can take on most challengers.
First is the start collecting khorne, actually the next two are start collecting slaanesh, and tzeentch. First khorne with ten bloodletters, three skull crushers, and either a blood throneas your hq or a skull cannon for range. Personally I would make the skull cannon, for the range to whittle down an one trying to kill your blood letters. Blood letters and skull crushers are there to hold your oppponent in close combat and to contest objectives if there are any. High strength and multiple attacks, this what they will be best for. Espcially any ranged infantry like bowmen. Skull crushers can and hopefully will help with heavier infantry as well.
Slaanesh start collecting, you get your herald, chariot, seekers, and daemonettes. Their light strength and toughness are a weakness. But their agility and always striking first, is what you shoud use to ruin your opponents day. They are fast and deadly. I would use these just to tear through any opponents melee units, or scouts. Stealing their forward postions and creating havoc as they run back to their front lines. The seekers and chariots, to out flank and wreack havoc on your opponents cavalry. The herald being a sorcere too, adds some range but nothing I would become dependant on. Just abuse the forward positions and the flanks. If you can the rear too.
Tzeentch in this wonderfully valued box, yes it is the best box games workshop has ever made. You get pink horrors, herald, chariot, flamers, and screamers. If you are savvy an exalted flamer too, if you make the chariot a herald on the chariot. Which makes the chariot worth more than the start collecting box alone. This box is your ranged and magic box. Picking up the slack from the khorne and slaanesh start collecting boxes. The chariot and screamers are fast and great to back up theslaanesh chariot and feinds when they finally fall and they will. The horrors to fight adjacent to the blood letters after damainging withany magic. the flamers and exalted one. Just as ranged infantry against any not in combat.
There is not a start collecting nurgle daemons any more, it was a pretty good box and finding one is recommended. If not, herald, some plague bearers and beasts of nurgle. Nurgle are tough, and resiliant. They can take a hell of lot of damage. So these need to hold back, on objectives or let the enemey come to you, and you can mop up what the others have left behind. There is a nurgle vanguard, if you are going to do a chaos army with warriors.
This should have you a decent daemon force in 4 months, plus playing some age of sigmar and 40k will give you a feel for the armies and which of the foul gods you would like to focus on. Then you can expand that force with a greater daemon or another start collecting box. So when the old finally drops you will have a army you can be proud and sceam the glories of your chosen diety.
