Can You Make A Thousand Sons Combat Patrol Cheaper Than The Combat Patrol Box?

I have done space marines and death guard, so it is the turn of the sons of magnus. I want to see if I can help save you money on the thousand sons. By save money by trying to stay under the price of the thousand sons combat patrol box. While making an equivalent or better starting force. Surprisingly not that easy as combat patrol boxes are good value. Not easy but not impossible either.

One infernal master#

5 scarab occult terminators

20 tzaangors with the autopistol and chainsword upgrade sprue. Not a great box truth be told.

With that many tzangors, 20 would cost you £60, the terminators £36, the infernal master £24, and the upgrade sprues at £36. £156 saving you £66. That is if you want that many tzaangors, and don't realise half the savings is actually on the upgrade sprues themselves. So with out the sprues it would be saving £30 or one Tzaangor box. The entire box has 26 models for your £90.

Can you do a similar combat patrol cheaper than the combat patrol box?

Yes, Yes you can and here is how.

First is your Hq, the night lord's lord is £12 don't worry he is also going to be converted with head and weapon swaps from the next purchase. A box of rubric marines at £35. There is plenty of spare bits in here to make the night lord's lord a tzeenchian champion. Finally two boxes of the cultist warband. These are £19 for a box of eight. That makes 16 £38. Altogether a combat patrol at £85 saving £5 from the combat patrol box. You now have five more models too, with 27 models for your £85

There is another way unfortunately you go over the £90 mark by £4.50. This is the same hq and rubric marines. Now you are going to add a box of horus heresy marines in there too. Swap some of the heads around to give it that cannibalised armour look. Same with the shoulder pads and backs. You'll save yourself a nice £23.50 knocking off the extra £4 from the price over the combat patrol box.

So there you have it one army close to the combat patrol box but cheaper, and one army better for a slightly bit more.
