I know I can talk about warhammer the old world until the cows come home. This must bemy fourth in as many weeks and second this week too. It is because I love the setting of the old warhammer fantasy battles. Age of sigmar is cool, with it's many realms, but there is something about the fighting for a single planet, using the old school fantasy creatures that is jut really appealing to me. So with every day being one more closer to release. I have done some thiking, some research, and come up with five things I would love to see in warhammer the old world. If they are not it is not a deal breaker. Just five cool thing that would be cool to see..
First is template weapons. The reason for this is imersion, especially when it comes to dragon breath. If a unit is in rank and file, a template would look better as that is how the attack would be. So if you hit in the middle the models on the flank would not be affeted and a template would show this. Unlike currently where a template doesn't make sense as they are always moving and there would no real way to see who the breath would hit.
Next, is releasing some of the classic minis, as made to order. Things like the green knight, the original malekith, and other great named characters that were around at the time. They can be finecast, just being able to rebuild and play some of these minis again would be awesome. I would buy the green knight straight away as well as some other dark elf, and chaos models
thirdly, paperback warhammer army books. Hardbooks look really cool on a shelf don't get me wrong. I have many age of sigmar and warhammer 40,000 battletomes and codices. Taking them from place to place is a hassle. They are big and cumbersome to take to your local gaming shop. They are also very expensive and you don't want to get them ruined, so a choice of paperback or hardback. One for travelling and alot cheaper too. So you can write notes in them and not worry to much about damage through thourough use.
penultimately, a proper starter set, like dominion but not limited edition. One you can buy throughout the games tenure. With the full rulebook, pieces, models, and everthing else you need to play. Something hefty to take home and open up. Build and paint.
Finally, bring back the statlines for all the races in the rulebook. They were there back in warhammer fantasy and should be back. This doesn't mean no army books. As I honestly forgot games work shop did this for warhammer as i always bought the warhammer army book I needed. Just that you could play a basic version of your favourite army with the ruebook is great. Mantic do it and I think it is great they do. Games workshop you do it to for this system I am looking forward to. Make it as great as I remember.
