10 Facts About Tyranids For Tenth Edition

The tyranids are going to be the big bad of tenth edition of Warhammer 40k. The big buggy bad guys of the grim dark future.

Here is ten facts about these insidious insects.

Number 10, from start to actual invasion takes ages, as in almost a hundred years a long time. This really shows either how much damage the tyranids are doing, with having a backlog of hundred years. Or how ill prepared the imperium is. So why does it take so long. The several of generations it takes for the genestealer cult to take the planet, then the time from the previous system to the new one.

Number 9, the tyranids have been several video games. Starting all the way back in 1995 on the original playstation with the first person shooter squad game space hulk. To the next space marine game and hired gun. As well as several others.

Number 8, in 1992, 5 years after the release of rogue trader. Tyranids got their own board game, tyranid attack. The only reason I mention this, it is the first 40k game I ever played. They were the main villians in the board game space hulk.

Number 7, even though the tyranid presence cause a blank in the warp. Genestealers and their cultists are not immune to chaos. With cult tenebrous getting swallowed by the warp in their lander, to be duped in nurgles garden. Then being spat out to be the worshippers of the plague god.

Number 6, everything the tyranids use a separate entity. From the ships to their weapons, even the ammo. All are creatures designed to a certain job.

Number 5, a genestealer patriarch has possessed an avatar of khaini. The craftworld Zaisuthra was taken over by the genestealer cult.

Number 4, Dante during the attack on baal killed a lictor with a bike.

Number 3, Boy do the tyranids hate the blood angels, only two psykers have ever made contact with the hive mind. Tigerus of the ultramarines and Mephiston of the blood angels. Mephiston explained why the hive fleet diverted from a planet full of organic life to attack baal. Was because the hatred towards the bloods angels. Dante is also the only commander to make the tyranids consider numbers too.

Number 2, so tyranids can adapt pretty quick. It is not on the fly. For the tyranids to adapt to a new threat. The new threats biology has to make it back to the hive fleet. This is why on baal the tyranid forces could not adapt to the thirst water.

Number 1, their named characters are just super powered versions of their regular organisms. Such as the deathleaper and old one eye. These are so rarely seen on the battlefield unless iin a massive horde. The swarmlord, is unique as it can always remember how its previous incarnation died.
